Ceuta migration influx: What we know

A sudden influx of 60,000 migrants into Spain’s enclave of Ceuta, located in Morocco, has triggered a crisis for Spain and the European Union. Moroccan security forces appear to have allowed the crossings, and experts suggest factors like a recent Spanish court ruling on migrant returns and diplomatic leverage by Morocco may be contributing. Around 25,000 migrants have since returned to Morocco, but the scale surpasses previous migration events in Ceuta.
