Vietnam’s great banking clean-up is only the beginning

Vietnamese banks began deleting over 86 million bank accounts in September 2023 due to biometric verification requirements set by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). Only 113 million personal and 711,000 organizational accounts survived, with nearly 43% of total accounts deemed dormant.
