Murder suspect on the run after taking off ankle monitor, vanishing before trial, authorities say

James Milton Simpson, a murder suspect charged with first- and second-degree murder in the March 2024 death of Richard Proveaux, is on the run after disabling his electronic monitoring device in May 2024. Authorities offer a $6,500 reward for information leading to his arrest, and he faces additional charges of escape. Proveaux was found shot and buried on his property in Wasilla, Alaska.
