Weill Cornell Medicine deal to boost sexual abuse prevention ends criminal investigation
Weill Cornell Medicine reached a voluntary compliance agreement with the federal government to enhance its sexual abuse prevention program, spending $30 million to establish the Institute for Safe Patient Care and Patient Empowerment. The deal follows the life prison sentence of Darius Paduch, a former doctor convicted of abusing patients from 2009 to 2019, and includes a prior $1 billion civil settlement for victims.
