Mekedatu: Centre cites SC order to say Karnataka need not take consent of riparian States to build structure across Cauvery
The Indian Centre has stated that Karnataka does not need consent from other Cauvery riparian states to build a structure at Mekedatu, citing a Supreme Court order. Karnataka claims the proposed reservoir-cum-drinking water project at Mekedatu will not disrupt its obligation to release the stipulated Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
