D-Day beaches inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List

UNESCO added the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy to its World Heritage List, commemorating a project spanning nearly two decades. The beaches, where Allied forces landed on June 6, 1944, were central to a battle that aimed to liberate Europe from Nazism and end World War II.
