UNESCO added France's D-Day landing beaches and Greece's Mount Olympus to the World Heritage List, alongside sites in Japan and South Sudan. The French sites include five Normandy beaches and the Pointe du Hoc, critical to WWII's liberation of Western Europe, while Mount Olympus was recognized for its cultural and natural heritage.
