Typhoon Noul, the third-closest major storm to Hong Kong since 2000, triggered a No 9 signal but caused only minor damage despite violent winds. It approached within 80km of the city, following closer proximity by Saola (40km) in 2023 and Hato/Wipha (60km) in 2017 and 2025.
