Coffee may protect your heart but energy drinks could harm it
A new American Heart Association review suggests that up to 400 milligrams of caffeine daily, roughly three to five cups of coffee, is generally safe and may reduce risks of heart disease, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes. However, highly concentrated energy drinks and caffeine shots can increase blood pressure and cause irregular heart rhythms.
