Two in five Americans believe stock market only serves the top 1%

A Harris Poll survey for the Guardian found that 40% of Americans incorrectly believe the stock market only benefits the top 1%, and two-thirds mistakenly think a growing stock market indicates overall economic growth. The poll also revealed that nearly 40% of respondents did not understand that the economy and stock market are distinct.
