Alleged drug kingpin accused of smuggling drugs across US-Mexico border through railway tunnel
Genaro Lopez, 54, was arraigned in federal court for allegedly using a cross-border tunnel to smuggle drugs into the U.S. from Mexico. Authorities discovered the tunnel in 2022 and seized large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl during investigations. Lopez, who fled to Mexico after a 2021 search, was extradited in March 2023 and faces drug trafficking charges without bond.
