Reza Zarrab, a key witness in the U.S. investigation into Halkbank's alleged Iranian sanctions evasion, was sentenced to time served. The U.S. dropped the case against Halkbank due to Turkey's role in brokering the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. Zarrab had pleaded guilty in 2017 and testified against Turkish officials, including implicating Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
