CMPD asks city leaders to tighten youth curfew after takeovers
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department requested city leaders to implement a daily 9 p.m. curfew for individuals under 18 to address teen takeovers, following arrests of minors and adults at University City boardwalk and a large gathering at Romare Bearden Park. Current curfew times are 11 p.m. for ages 13-15 and 10 p.m. for those under 12, with exceptions for parental accompaniment, errands, work, religious activities, and sports.
