Syrian transitional parliament holds first session

Syria's transitional parliament began its first session, tasked with drafting a new constitution and establishing democracy after decades of authoritarian rule. The new authorities dissolved the previous legislature following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024 and adopted a temporary constitutional declaration for a five-year transition period.
