Woman mauled by brown bear at her home while letting her dogs out, officials say

A woman in Alaska was mauled by a brown bear on her front deck while letting her dogs out, requiring helicopter transport to a hospital. She fired a shotgun to scare the bear and its cubs away but was seriously injured. Another woman in the home helped drive the bears off and assisted the victim indoors.
