Albany County passes legislation to replace coroner’s office with medical examiner

Albany County passed legislation to replace its four part-time, elected coroners with an appointed, full-time medical examiner and deputy. The change requires voter approval in a Nov. 3 referendum to amend the county charter by repealing Article 19, which establishes the Coroner’s Office.
