FDA OKs first new sunscreen ingredient in more than 25 years
The FDA approved bemotrizinol, a sunscreen ingredient previously used in Europe, as the first new U.S. sunscreen ingredient in over 25 years. The agency confirmed it meets safety standards for UV protection with minimal skin irritation or absorption, suitable for adults and children 6 months and older.
