SC upholds NGT order that landlord cannot be liable for environmental violations committed by tenant

The Supreme Court upheld the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) order that landlords cannot be held liable for environmental violations committed by their tenants. The NGT previously ruled that an owner was not responsible for paying ₹25 lakh in interim environmental damage compensation for offenses by an industrial unit operating on his rented premises.
