States could purge voter rolls close to elections if Supreme Court takes Trump’s side in Arizona case

The U.S. Department of Justice requested the Supreme Court to review a case involving Arizona's voter registration law, which requires proof of citizenship for state elections. The law, challenged by Democratic and voting rights groups, could allow states to purge voter rolls for noncitizens close to elections, a move opponents argue risks disenfranchisement. The 9th Circuit Court previously ruled the law violates the National Voter Registration Act.
