Southern California elderly couple loses life savings in FBI imposter scam

An elderly Southern California couple lost their life savings in an FBI imposter scam and may lose their home of over 37 years. The scammers first contacted them in February 2025, posing as the U.S. Postal Service. The couple, Peter and Diane Hata, recalled the day they were initially contacted.
