Clinical application of base editing for treating β-thalassaemia

A phase 1 clinical trial using CS-101, CD34+ cells modified with a transformer base editor, showed early and sustained transfusion independence in β-thalassaemia patients. The treatment reactivates fetal hemoglobin production, offering a potential breakthrough in genetic disorder therapy.
