Trump-backed candidate wins GOP primary runoff for new Texas House seat

Alex Mealer, a former oil and gas executive endorsed by President Trump, is projected to win the GOP primary runoff for Texas’s newly drawn 9th Congressional District. He defeated state Rep. Briscoe Cain, who was backed by Gov. Greg Abbott.
