Opinion: We need more men in nursing

The US is facing a shortage of qualified nurses, with nearly 200,000 annual job openings expected, and men are an untapped group whose recruitment could make a difference. Men remain underrepresented in the nursing profession, accounting for just 12% of nurses nationally. Concerted efforts are needed to recruit more men to join the nursing profession.
