Viral migration surge to Spanish Ceuta enclave

Tens of thousands of migrants, predominantly youths from Morocco, were motivated by viral social media videos and news coverage to swim into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, resulting in chaotic conditions, a deadly stampede, and dozens of deaths or injuries. The migrants, many of whom filmed themselves celebrating their arrival, were reportedly encouraged by misinformation about border policy changes and Spanish news reports.
