Tens of thousands of migrants attempted to enter Spain's Ceuta enclave in a sudden surge that Morocco attributed to misleading social media information and human trafficking networks, while Spanish intelligence disputed whether Morocco's government had advance knowledge or allowed the influx for political purposes. Baseless conspiracy theories also emerged linking Israel to the crisis.
