- York County Fire Department hosts blood drive on Aug. 20
The York County Fire Department is hosting a blood drive on Aug. 20 to support its Whole Blood Program. The event, in partnership with The Blood Connection, will take place at Fire Station #1 in Grafton from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Dead multiple times, saved by Colorado Springs trauma team
Cowboy Lopez survived a severe accident involving a skid loader that caused multiple critical injuries, including a collapsed lung and internal bleeding, thanks to rapid response by Colorado Springs firefighters using whole blood and the trauma team at UCHealth Memorial Hospital. Lopez, who was declared dead multiple times, credits the emergency responders and medical staff for saving his life.
- FLFR crew honored for actions following crash that killed 1; dashcam video released
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews were honored for their rapid response during a fatal car crash on March 25th, where they used the Jaws of Life and administered whole blood to aid the victim. Dominick Rella, the driver who caused the crash, was later arrested and charged with DUI, manslaughter, and driving with a suspended license.
