Approximately 6,600 noncitizens were improperly registered to vote in New Jersey due to a software error in the motor vehicle system between 2023 and 2024, according to Gov. Mikie Sherrill. The governor ordered the removal of erroneous registrations, replaced the system vendor, and launched an investigation into the error.
