    14-year-old killed in shooting just before first day of high school; best friend arrested

    A 14-year-old Louisiana boy was killed in a shooting just before he was set to start his freshman year at Hahnville High School. St. Charles Parish deputies found the victim early Monday morning, and detectives arrested a 16-year-old male connected to the homicide. The accused teen, who was the victim's best friend, faces charges including second-degree homicide.

    He drove 90 mph drunk through a red light. Now he’ll spend decades in a Michigan prison

    A 20-year-old Macomb County man was sentenced to 10-50 years in prison for second-degree homicide after a drunk driving crash that killed 26-year-old Austin Southwell. Jack Robb, who was 17 at the time, was driving 90 mph through a red light in Shelby Township on Jan. 7, 2024, and was found guilty in May 2026. He was also ordered to pay $12,000 in restitution.
