Knee surgery for cartilage damage does not benefit patients, study suggests

A 10-year study found that patients with meniscus tears who underwent partial meniscectomy surgery had worse knee function and increased osteoarthritis compared to those who received sham surgery. The findings suggest common knee cartilage surgery may not benefit patients and could lead to poorer long-term outcomes.
