- Poultry industry grows at consumers’ cost
The poultry industry in Pakistan has grown by 8% annually over the past decade despite export disruptions, disease outbreaks, and rising costs. Consumers face persistently high poultry prices (Rs370-420 per kg in Karachi) even after Eidul Azha, with beef and mutton remaining significantly more expensive. Export suspensions to Afghanistan and Iran have not led to significant price drops, and retailers are charging above recommended rates.
