The former chief public defender in Hennepin County, Kassius Benson, was disbarred by the Minnesota Supreme Court after being convicted of tax fraud and misappropriating client funds. He was ordered to repay over $213,000 for tax fraud and had previously used client funds for personal expenses without allocating them to legal services.
