- Colombia’s Debt Ratio Just Fell. It Borrowed $20bn More Anyway
Colombia’s external debt ratio to GDP fell to 51.6% in April from 53.7% a year earlier, but the dollar value of its debt increased by $20bn to $247.7bn due to a stronger peso. The debt ratio decline mirrors levels seen in May 2020.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is likely to retain power in elections amid security challenges and rising tensions in the northern Tigray region. The African Development Bank projects economic growth of 7.8% in 2025-26 and 8.5% in 2026-27, but Ethiopia faces 'unsustainable' external debt.
