- Cueva twins dominate Zapopan Diving Cup, cinching gold over China for the first time ever
The Cueva twins, Mía and Lía Cueva Lobato, secured Mexico's first-ever victory over Chinese competitors in an international diving competition by winning gold in the synchronized 3-meter springboard at the 2026 Zapopan Diving Cup. Mexico earned 10 total medals (3 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze) across events, with additional golds in the men’s 10-meter platform and silvers in the women’s 10-meter platform. The competition, held July 16–19, served as preparation for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
