A federal judge halted California's SB 343 'Truth in Recycling' law before its October implementation, ruling four of its provisions are unconstitutionally vague and that the law restricts commercial speech without sufficient evidence it will achieve its recycling goals. The judge cited concerns that stricter recyclability labeling requirements might lead producers to omit recyclability symbols, increasing landfill waste.
