- Massachusetts’s slow adoption of EV chargers through federal program is ‘mystifying’ to transit advocates
Massachusetts has not deployed any electric vehicle (EV) chargers through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program despite receiving $64 million in federal funding. Three vendors were selected, but only two (Applegreen and Global Partners) have signed contracts, while the third (Weston & Sampson) remains unresolved. Transit advocates and experts criticize the slow progress, with no chargers installed four years after federal approvals.
