Jackie, an internet sensation bald eagle who was monitored near Big Bear Lake, died Monday after receiving medical treatment for illnesses, including anemia, at the Ojai Raptor Center. She had been found ill on July 17 by the San Dimas Raptor Rescue team following a fight with other eagles. Her care and existence were noted as emblematic of the species' overall successful comeback in California.
