Totapuri mangoes

Totapuri mango growers will receive a transparent subsidy with no favoritism, as eligible growers are identified through gram sabha resolutions and crop e-KYC. The government has set a ₹4 per kg support price for Totapuri mangoes.

Karnataka is requesting the Centre to increase the prescribed quantity of Totapuri mangoes under the PDPS scheme to support farmers. The current maximum quantity allowed under the scheme is 1,30,000 metric tonnes.

Totapuri mango prices have crashed, causing distress among farmers in Chittoor. Despite government intervention, pulp processing units are procuring the mangoes for less than ₹6 per kg during the final harvesting phase.

Naidu, Pawan, and Chouhan launched the VB-G Ram G scheme in Tirupati district, focusing on rural employment and farmer welfare. The government also announced procurement of 2.16 lakh tonnes of Totapuri mangoes.

The State government plans to procure 7.03 lakh tonnes of Totapuri mangoes by offering farmers an additional ₹4 per kg. Chief Minister Naidu has requested ₹280 crore in aid under the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme to support this initiative.

Karnataka has initiated farmer registration for Totapuri mangoes under the MIP scheme. The scheme will be valid for one month starting from the date of the first mango produce transaction in the software.

The state government has recommended a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Totapuri mangoes and is awaiting approval from the Centre. Farmers are demanding a higher price of ₹8000 to ₹10,000 per tonne, as the current rate of ₹2000 to ₹3000 per tonne results in financial losses.
