Robert Jacob Hoopes was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for throwing a rock that injured an ICE officer during a 2025 protest in Portland, Oregon. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a federal employee with a dangerous weapon and was ordered to pay $8,000 in restitution and serve three years of supervised release. The FBI identified Hoopes using facial recognition technology after matching a tattoo visible in protest footage to a photo on a Reed College website.
