Mexico City Metro has begun using heat cameras at Auditorio station on Line 7 to display real-time crowd levels via a color-coded system. The green-to-purple scale indicates crowding density, and real-time heat maps are accessible on the Metro CDMX website and its official X account.

The Nashville Community Review Board reviewed the Metro Nashville Police Department's drone program, which uses three drones for emergency response within a two-mile radius of the Madison precinct. The drones, equipped with thermal cameras and capable of reading license plates from 800 feet, are prohibited from using weapons or facial recognition. While the program has aided in recent arrests, community advocates have raised privacy and transparency concerns.

Scientists are implementing thermal cameras and artificial intelligence technology to detect and track gray whales off the California coast in order to prevent ship strikes. The system works by alerting nearby ships to the presence of whales, helping reduce collisions that threaten the marine mammal population.
