NYC completed the first phase of the Battery Coastal Resilience project to protect Battery Park from sea-level rise, using low-carbon materials and reducing emissions. The $200 million initiative, part of the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience strategy, was announced by Mayor Zohran Mamdani and aims to safeguard public spaces, residents, and businesses ahead of a busy events season.
