    1 killed, dozens hurt in Staten Island dry dock explosion and fire

    One person was killed and 36 injured, including 34 firefighters or EMS personnel, in an explosion and fire at a Staten Island dry dock facility. The fire started in a basement metal structure, led to an explosion 45 minutes later, and was under control by 8 p.m. The cause remains under investigation.
