- Incarcerated people make their cases to Wisconsin’s new commutation board
A dozen incarcerated people appeared before Wisconsin’ Commutation Advisory Board to ask Governor Tony Evers for shortened prison sentences. The board reviews applications and makes recommendations to promote rehabilitation. Republican state Sen. Van Wanggaard challenged the process, arguing that Gov. Evers is using "hand-picked, unelected bureaucrats" to second-guess prosecutors and judges.
