Russian drone incident

Russia closed Romania’s mission in St. Petersburg and expelled its consul general in response to Romania shutting down Russia’s consulate in Constanța. Romania's action followed a Russian drone crash in Galați that injured civilians and alarmed NATO and EU partners.

NATO and the EU condemned a Russian drone strike that hit a residential building in Romania’s Galati region, injuring two people. Leaders including Ursula von der Leyen and Maia Sandu described the incident as a dangerous escalation and a threat to NATO security, warning Russia had crossed a new line.
