Revised Budget

Local bodies in Kerala are experiencing a financial crisis due to a sharp decline in Plan fund allocations in the Revised Budget presented by the United Democratic Front government.

The Finance Bill includes revised tax rates for low-alcoholic beverages. Beverages with 0.5% to 10% alcohol content face a 120% tax, while those with 10% to 20% alcohol content are taxed at 175%. These rates were announced by the Chief Minister in the Revised Budget.

The Sabari Railway Action Council Federation criticized the omission of its project in the Revised Budget, calling it disappointing and pushing the project into uncertainty. The council is demanding a ₹200-crore allocation for the project.

Binoy Viswam claims the Kerala Revised Budget is abandoning welfare policies previously implemented by the Left Democratic Front government.

The revised budget aims to increase daily milk production to 1 crore litres within three years. This initiative focuses on boosting milk output through policy changes or financial allocations.
