Qing dynasty

A mainland Chinese film titled 'The Belief,' depicting the 1683 Qing dynasty victory over the Kingdom of Tungning in Taiwan, faces backlash from nationalistic voices, casting doubt on its future. The film highlights Emperor Kangxi's order for the Battle of Penghu, which led to Taiwan's reunification with the Qing empire.

The Empress of China, a converted privateer, sailed from New York in 1784 to Canton, the only port open for Western maritime trade under the Qing dynasty. The voyage occurred shortly after the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Paris, which recognized American independence.

In 1776, 56 men met in the Pennsylvania State House to draft the Declaration of Independence, a document that articulated revolutionary ideals of freedom and equality.
