Two people were killed in a crash involving a motorcyclist and truck driver on U.S. 27 near Pembroke Road in Miramar. The incident occurred amid traffic backups caused by a prior vehicle fire, leading to a collision when vehicles attempted to stop. Authorities are investigating but have not confirmed details or released the victims' identities.

Irving Steele, 33, was arrested after crashing near a Pembroke Pines Dunkin’ and fleeing the scene. He faces charges including leaving the scene of a crash, fleeing or eluding, driving with a suspended license, and resisting an officer. Steele remains in custody at the Broward Main Jail.

Jamie Zane Goldbourne, a 25-year-old Miramar man, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl from a foster care facility in Pembroke Pines. He picked her up from Children’s Harbor, took her to his Miami apartment, and later made incriminating statements after being read his Miranda rights. The case was transferred to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department is organizing a collection drive to aid victims of an earthquake in northern Venezuela. Donations of nonperishable food, tents, cots, and emergency supplies will be collected at The Shops at Pembroke Gardens from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The items will be sent to Global Empowerment Mission’s warehouse in Doral.

A 60-year-old man, Humberto Exposito, is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he abused and abandoned an elderly German shepherd at a Pembroke Pines shopping center. The dog was left without food, water, or shelter and is now receiving care at Broward County Animal Care. Exposito was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty, abandonment, and confinement without sufficient air exchange.

A 29-year-old man was arrested for causing a serious car crash in Pembroke Pines while driving under the influence and exceeding the speed limit by more than double. The crash involved two vehicles, resulted in injuries to both drivers, and revealed prior hit-and-run incidents by the suspect.

A helicopter crash at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines hospitalized four people in stable condition. The Federal Aviation Administration identified the helicopter as a Robinson R44, and the FAA, Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, and Police Department are investigating.
