- ‘Wildly unprecedented’: Delaware lawmakers question lack of role in Gov. Matt Meyer’s creation of a $270K state surgeon general
Delaware lawmakers are questioning Gov. Matt Meyer's creation of a $270,000 state surgeon general position via executive order without legislative consultation. Neil Hockstein, an otolaryngologist, was appointed to the role, which began despite pending approval from the state Controller General. Lawmakers claim they were informed of the reclassification of a nursing supervisor role into the surgeon general position only after it was announced.
