Brazilian police conducted 13 search warrants targeting suspects accused of using chemicals to clear 10,180 hectares of the Amazon rainforest in Para state for commercial pasture. No arrests were made, but suspects could face charges including environmental crimes and illegal chemical use. Cattle ranching remains the primary driver of deforestation, despite a 23.5% decline in 2025 compared to the previous year.

The Amazon state of Para is set to receive 14.7 billion dollars in mining investment as Brazil promotes a forest-based economy in the same territory.
