- Raccoon dies after getting caught in leg trap at Mecklenburg County park
A raccoon died from heat stroke after being trapped in a leg trap at a Mecklenburg County park. The trap was found attached to a fence on an adjoining property, and multiple traps were discovered during the investigation. While foothold traps are regulated in North Carolina, Wildlife Rehab cited them as illegal and an act of animal cruelty.
