- Flock is falling out of favor with police departments
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has let its contract with surveillance company Flock Safety expire due to privacy and civil liberties concerns. Multiple police jurisdictions, including Mountain View, Santa Cruz, and others, have also ended their associations with Flock since 2025 over data-sharing practices and errors in its license plate recognition technology, which have led to wrongful arrests and civil rights issues.
